Demiah Hernandez is the proud daughter of Frankie Hernandez and Jessica Kuhl. Currently, she is a senior at Julesburg High School and has attended school in Julesburg since sixth grade. After Demiah graduates from high school, she plans on attending Lamar Community College. At Lamar Community College, she will be double majoring in Equine Business Management and Equine Training Management. Furthermore, she will be a member of the Lamar Community College’s rodeo team: the Runnin’ Lopes. After Demiah graduates college, she will go to Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, Colorado, and study how to be a wildlife technician. In Fort Collins, she will also be working at one of the front-range equine barns.
Throughout Demiah’s high school career, she has done a lot for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. Demiah has been the FFA president ever since Julesburg High School welcomed the program. From being president, Demiah has helped build and shape FFA into being the successful club it is today. Demiah has also been a participant in the Holyoke High School swim team for two years. In swimming, Demiah competed at state swimming two years in a row. Outside of school, Demiah joined the National Barrel Horse Association and has been competing throughout summer and winter at rodeo events. Demiah aspires to make it to the state finals for the National Barrel Horse Association and then qualify for nationals, which is held in Perry, Georgia.
Although Demiah has been eager to graduate ever since her freshman year in high school, she shares that she has experienced many favorable memories in high school. One of her favorite high school memories is playing fugitives with all of her friends. Besides spending time with family and friends, Demiah enjoys reading an enticing book, riding her horses, and going to barrel races. Demiah will take her high school hobbies and memories with her as she moves on to the next chapter of her life!
