Riley Ferguson is a graduating senior of Julesburg High School and is the daughter of Nicholas and Melissa Ferguson. Riley plans to attend Garden City Community College in Kansas to major in Cosmetology. She wants to become a cosmetologist as well as a nail technician. When Riley was asked what inspired her to become a cosmetologist she said, “last year I got acrylic nails for the first time and I loved them, then I knew I wanted to do cosmetology for my career and also wanted to do hair.” For her senior year she has been an intern at the 2nd Street Salon and often talks about how much she enjoys it.
When asking Riley what her favorite memory in high school was she said, “It would have to be driving around with friends or just getting out of the house and when my friends and I take random trips to Ogallala.” Riley has participated in various activities in highschool. She has participated in volleyball throughout highschool, runs track, and her junior year she decided to play basketball. Riley has also shown her art at various art shows. Her favorite hobbies are to color, paint, and swim which is why she is a lifeguard in the summer.
Throughout high school her biggest influence was herself. Riley has been working so hard in high school just to prove to family and to herself that she can be the best she can be. She wanted to show her mom how proud she can make her with all the things she is going to accomplish. Riley has described her senior year as chaotic. She says this because we have too many rules to follow with the pandemic and it just makes everything so much harder. The thing she will miss the most about high school is the constant communication with her friends and family. She will also miss late nights with friends and the high school dances.
