We had a fabulous first week in preschool! During the first weeks of preschool we talk a lot about rules and expectations. This week we learned about Rule #1 "Follow Directions Quickly". We also had an introduction to our Character Strong curriculum where we talked about how to be kind. We explored the classroom and playground too!! Character Strong is the new social skills curriculum the district has adopted to help students develop the emotional side. In second grade students got to play some name games to get to know each other. They loved the interactive dice and movement involved with the game while learning more about each other.

Third grade learning to understand multiplication. We started with counting equal groups. Here students are relating addition to multiplication. They worked in pairs to solve problems about equal groups. They had to write an addition equation and a multiplication equation to find a total.

Students of the Julesburg School District gather in the main gym, first thing this morning, to participate in a moment of silence in remembrance of September 11, 2001.  Following a moment of silence they recited the Pledge of Allegiance together before returning to class.  Then the Remembrance Team continued the educational aspect of this tragedy with a series of short, informative bits of information at all the significant times that fall morning. 8:46 North Tower Struck - Jordyn: It is now 8:46,  American Airlines Flight 11, hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors. 9:03 South Tower Struck - Kaden:  It is currently 9:03, United Airlines Flight 175 just hit the south tower. The south tower stood over a quarter-mile tall at 1,362 feet.110 floors. The buildings were set on fire, trapping people on the upper floors, and covering the city in smoke and complete destruction. 9:37 Pentagon Struck - Jeidy:  The time now is 9:37 . . .  American Airlines Flight 77  has hit the Pentagon. The flight was hijacked and hit three sections of the building on the west side. 184 souls perished, 64 of which were on the flight, including children and 124 were working in the Pentagon. All of those who were on the flight were killed instantly and those who were in the Pentagon were crushed by rubble or trapped inside due to flames. May their souls rest in peace.  9:59 South Tower Collapse - Itai It is currently 9:59 AM, nearly one hour after the south tower was struck, causing a massive explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and onto the streets below . . . the tower begins to crumble.  It immediately becomes apparent that America is under attack.  10:07 United Flight 93 Crashes in PA -  Avery It is now 10:07.  United Flight 93 has Crashed in Pennsylvania in a nearby field. Originally bound for San Francisco, likely aiming for the U.S. Capitol or the White House. The passengers and crew came together in a heroic action,  over taking the terrorists and diverting the plane. Forty people perished, 33 passengers and seven crew members.  10:28 North Tower Collapse - Cameron  After 102 minutes of burning, the North Tower has collapsed. The death toll from this building alone is 1,600 lives. The tallest building in New York City, a signature of our nation, has fallen due to the impact of American Airline Flight 11, 1 hour and 42 minutes prior. America has just endured the deadliest act of terrorism in human history. As a result the Department of Homeland Security and Transportation Security Administration was created.  9/11 will forever be remembered in our hearts as a day America suffered, but thanks to that suffering we were able to grow stronger than we were before.
