Some of the staff from Julesburg Elementary and Julesburg High School took part in an exciting professional learning opportunity this past Saturday. This training focused on supporting teachers with engagement expectations and how to have 100% student engagement in their classrooms. They also learned the importance of clarity, modeling, student collaborative work, and effective feedback through the use of engaging instruction and active learning with their students. They are excited to get back to school and give these strategies a try!

JHS wishes a very Happy Birthday to our students and staff with January Birthdays! Happy Birthday to Jhonathan, Jolene, Gavin W, Tessa, Cade, Olivia and Mr. Stan!

Our 4th & last day of Olympic trials. Today we were Biathloners. Teams consisted of 2-3 players. 1 was throwing a bean bag at the target while their partner did a locomotor skill lap around the gym, then they switched. Next week, let the games begin!

9th-12th grades students from JHS joined other students in NE Colorado at the Corsberg Theatre on the campus of NJC to listen to Global Adventurer, John Beede tell his motivational stories about his life and how to succeed in life. Mr. Beede has climbed the tallest mountains on every continent, including Mount Everest. Students participated in this interactive morning and left inspired to conquer their own mountains. This event was sponsored by NE BOCES & the CO Rural Alliance Foundation – with the help of local school district Student Council Officers in making the selection on the speaker!

Third grade students are learning the concept of adaptation by showing how specific traits help an organism survive in its specific habitat. Students experimented how blubber helps keep arctic animals warm in cold ocean water.
