The Chimney Rock Museum and Sidney Fort Museums did not disappoint! Our first and second graders were immersed in a day full of fascinating facts, hands-on activities, and incredible sights. It was hard to capture it all, but the experience was truly unforgettable.
A huge thank-you to the dedicated staff and parents who made this trip possible—and to the museums for their generous support in welcoming our students free of charge. What amazing memories we made!

There are so many fascinating things to discover about Japanese culture!
From the meaning behind their flag to unique hobbies, amazing animals, and so much more, Japan offers a rich learning experience.
To help our second graders remember that rice is a staple food in Japan, we had a fun and tasty activity. Students watched short videos on how to eat with chopsticks, then gave it a try themselves. After some practice (and a few giggles), most of them happily dug into their rice using chopsticks. A few weren’t quite convinced—but they were brave enough to give it a try!

Go Cougars! Good Luck at State!

Come be a part of our AMAZING team!

Join us for the Pep Rally today and send off tomorrow!

Second grade has been diving into the exciting world of plate tectonics by exploring land and water through hands-on experiments.
Using dampened graham crackers, students modeled what happens when tectonic plates interact. They observed how the “ground” shifts during an earthquake when plates slide past each other and how mountains can form when plates collide.
To top it all off, students got to enjoy a tasty graham cracker treat after their scientific exploration!

Second grade was thrilled to welcome Mrs. Nichs, a dedicated volunteer from the Colorado Welcome Center, for a special presentation about all the amazing things our state has to offer. She shared information about a variety of destinations and handed out fun and informative pamphlets to help the students discover if they’re “Colorado Ready.”
In addition to the pamphlets, students received maps and coloring books to continue exploring at home.
We are so grateful to Mrs. Nichs for generously sharing her time and knowledge, and for all the hours she’s spent helping our students learn and grow.

Our 6th graders are making the most of this beautiful day! They’re heading outside with their books to enjoy the sunshine while reading about the incredible Babe Didrikson Zaharias— an inspiring athlete and trailblazer. What a perfect way to combine fresh air and learning!

“There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature" ~Maria Montessori
Mrs. Hansen's preschool class has been exploring life cycles. Teaching life cycles to preschoolers is important because it helps them to understand the natural world, develop scientific thinking skills, and appreciate the interconnectedness of living things. It also fosters curiosity, encourages observation, and helps them understand concepts like growth and change in living things.
Special shout out to JHS student Dannika Wilson for offering her talents in the form of a crocheted caterpillar and snacks! This allowed our students to participate in the story and also to retell the story on their own!

“Where On Earth is My Bagel?” was our featured story in second grade this week! To help students understand what a bagel is—and enjoy a tasty treat—they got to snack on real bagels while listening to the story.
Keep reading and keep soaring, second grade!
