First we learned how to compare fractions with same numerators or same denominators, now 3rd grade is comparing equivalent fractions that have smaller and larger pieces. Fraction bars help students to be hands-on while they learn how fractions can appear different but are actually the same.

Jacob Liles earned the Good News Call of the Day from Ms. Miller. "This morning at breakfast I watched a little elementary kid accidentally drop his breakfast on the ground while putting his tray away. There were other kids that saw it happen, but Jacob was the only one who stopped to help the little boy clean up. It was really nice to see the kindness from a Junior High student to an Elementary student," Ms. Miller.
