Splash! What a day at Water World! At Julesburg Elementary School, we truly believe in educating the whole child. Not only do we assess and celebrate academic achievements and growth, we acknowledge other areas such as physical fitness growth and achievement. We are grateful for the opportunity for our students to participate physical education five days a week. As a part of our fitness program, students set goals for themselves and try to place nationally. Some of those exercises include; running to test stamina, sit and reach to test flexibility, sit-ups, to test core strength and push-ups to test upper body strength. 20 students were recognized at the end of the school year at our annual awards ceremony and were treated to a day at Water World. Not only is this a fun day for students and staff, it is also exciting to see the kids take on extra challenges throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs. Patterson, Ms. Auernhamer and Mr. Sanabria for attending the trip today. Great experiences and memories.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Julesburg High School FBLA Social Media Strategies Team; Emily Fowler, Kierra Ehnes, & Jensen Renquist for placing 9th at the National FBLA Competition this week in Chicago. The national event started with 84 teams presenting in this category, the top two teams, in six different sessions were then selected to advance to the final rounds. This team presented for a second time in the finals and only 10 teams of the 12 advanced to stage to be recognized. In this national competition they gave a presentation on the development of social media strategies that is to raise awareness and sales at a local restaurant using multiple social media platforms. They featured our very own local favorite, D&J Café!! Their strategies included: growing the brand, turning customers into advocates, driving sales or customer leads, and improving customer retention. They researched social media platforms and implemented three that will reach the desired, targeted audience and they had 7 minutes to educate their panel of judges on their research, findings, and selection of the best social media strategies to fulfill the required four targeted areas. A special thank you to The William Stretesky Foundation, The Lillis Foundation, and the Sedgwick County Rotary Club for their assistance in funding this team. Way to represent Julesburg, Sedgwick County, and your state of Colorado ladies!!!

The Julesburg FFA recently traveled to CSU-Pueblo to participate in the Colorado State FFA Convention. This opportunity helped integrate the Julesburg FFA chapter into the Colorado FFA community, and expose our students to initiatives and opportunities in the organization. Our students left the experience inspired to take action in their own personal FFA journey as well as their local FFA chapter. Our students participated in leadership workshops on time management and risk taking. We listened to motivational speakers. We had the pleasure of listening to a retired officer, current national officer and a former NFL Football player, Desmond Clark. Our students learned more about the business and delegate process where students discuss and vote on business for the association and we learned more about the nomination and selection process for State Officers. They also witnessed the many initiatives and opportunities that FFA members can pursue like proficiency awards, State FFA Degrees, National Chapter Awards, Leadership Development Events, Career Development Events, Star SAE Awards, along with many others such as career opportunities and connection, career and college fairs and life at CSU-Pueblo At the State Convention, our students also got to participate in some fun events. We saw a hypnotist, explored the CSU-Pueblo campus, watched the public speaking finals and enjoyed a chapter dinner.

JHL Constructors, the construction firm hired to build the new K-12 facility, is employing three local teenagers. Pictured are Rafe Buettenback a 2022 graduate of Julesburg High School, Liam Buettenback a current student at JHS and Alexis Hackbart a 2021 graduate of JHS. Together, they are working on the pre-fabrication backing for the windows going into the new school. We appreciate JHL providing relevant work experience that will make our former and current students more competitive in the global workforce.
