Go Cougars!

Gunner McEntee, former graduate of Julesburg High School, met with the Juniors today to talk to them about the Rocky Mountain Rotary Youth Leadership Award program. Gunner will be the new Head Camp Counselor this summer and is encouraging students to apply, attend and learn more about this intensive leadership experience and develop their leadership skills while making life-long connections.
Students also completed a team building exercise!!

Second grade took advantage of the nice weather to complete some more erosion experiments.
Wind and water erosion happens at the beach as well. We did a simulation (as close as we could) of the effects of wind (by blowing sand with a straw) and water (by moving the tray with water) on the beach.

Life Cycles are taking over preschool!! Our Ladybug land habitat is full of larvae in varying stages. Our caterpillars are growing every day, preparing for their transformation. Finally, as an experiment which began in October, Pumpkin Jack grew his first sprout!

Kindergarten enjoyed a special visit from Miss Katie Burnett today (daughter of Mrs. Iva Burnett)!!! Katie talked about hard work, effort and teamwork. She also told us about the importance of education. She encouraged us to reach for our goals and to have a "can do" attitude. Katie is employed by Dell and is a team leader in her profession!! Way to go Katie!! Thank you for coming in!!

Last Thursday night we lots of fun at our annual elementary Family Fitness Night! Families enjoyed playing all the different activities set up throughout the school. Of course the most popular was Mrs. Palic's and Ms. Jourdin's delicious fruit smoothies!!!!!!

More pics from Family Fitness Night!!!!

I just have to say how incredibly impressed I was with the fifth grade class! They presented their ecosystems to the second graders and did an amazing job!
They were polite, spoke clearly, were knowledgeable, and answered questions articulately.
This was perfect timing as well because our next module in reading is all about habits.
Thanks again fifth grade and Mrs. Wilber!

There will be NO SCHOOL this Friday (7th) and Monday (10th). Have a great Easter Break!

Have you ever visited Arches National Park? The formations are amazing! They have changed over time.
To demonstrate this, second grade completed water and wind erosion with droppers and straws.
