Highlighting and rally coaching helps students to improve their fluency in second grade. Each week they receive a new fluency read that works on our sound for the week. Students love to "be the teacher" for the other student. The highlighting helps students track which line they are on.

Games, games, games! When you play games you don't even realize you're learning.
Second grade loves math games. This math game works on adding three digits which matches our lesson.

Julesburg High School was well represented at the Elbridge Gerry Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution reception this past Saturday in Sterling. 8th grader Owen Harris was the district winner of the American History Essay, "Delegate to Second Continental Congress" which he recited at the reception.
Senior Kierra Ehnes was selected by her peers to be the DAR Good Citizen representing her school district. Kierra then submitted her essay entitled "Our American Heritage and our Responsibility for Preserving It" with the focus question of: "How will the essential actions of a Good Citizen (dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism) meet the challenges that America faces in this decade?" Following the recital of her essay it was announced she had been selected as the district winner and scholarship recipient. Kierra's essay will now compete at the state level.
Congratulations Owen & Kierra.
