8th graders in U.S. History are teaching each other the parts of the U.S. Constitution.
Mrs. Hansen's preschoolers made some predictions this week and they were pretty accurate! But…we were not all happy to hear the news from the Groundhog’s scroll. Shadow it is and 6 more weeks of winter we will see!
Third graders are working on an opinion essay together. They think we need to go on a field trip. Today students had to come up with reasons and provide examples to support their opinion.
This week, third grade reviewed vocabulary words charades style. Students had to choose a word then act it out without using words or noises and the rest of the group had to figure out what word it was. Mr. Renquist stopped by to check it out and read about the Titanic with a couple of students.

As we wrap up the month of January and Board Appreciation Month, the staff and students of Julesburg Elementary School would again, like to thank our JSD Board of Education for all of their time, effort and commitment. We appreciate all you do to support our school and the education of our students. Six of our student artists are excited to present the portraits they have created of each of our board members as a token of our gratitude.

Family Consumer Science students share their research with a partner about food and nutrition around the world by looking at various food pyramids.
We have begun our Jump Rope unit at the elementary. With February being "Heart Healthy Month" we prepare for our "Jump Rope For Heart Extravaganza", which takes place at the end of the month. Students work hard on creating performances that they take to the stage!

The max allotments that families have been receiving since the pandemic in 2020 is ending this month. We tell families all the time when they are in here or when they call but if we can just keep letting them know. This will have a huge impact on families and we are aware of this. If you could remind families that the Julesburg Christian Church has commodity distribution the last Saturday of every month. This distribution is a good resource for families. We also have a limited food pantry here at the office, but households can only access it every 30 days.

Best of Luck to the Julesburg High School Future Business Leaders of America Chapter as they compete at the District Leadership Conference at Northeastern Junior College today. Each member / team has a chance to earn their way to state in various Business Competitions. These members are part of Colorado District IV which also includes chapters from: Caliche, Fleming, Haxtun, Holyoke, Merino, Revere, Sterling, Weldon Valley & Wray.
How do you get better at math? Flash cards! Second graders even made up ways to make it a competition. It all adds up!!!
Brrrrr!!!! Inside recess can be fun too! Second grade is making the best of it!
Mrs. Lindsay gave the Good News Call of the Day to Liam Buettenback, Cameron Hackbart, Kevin Lopez, Noah Lopez and Christian Zamacona for their hard work clearing snow around town. Mrs. Lindsay’s neighbors had quite the drift that those boys worked very hard on. They also got someone unstuck while they were doing the job at the neighbors. They worked their tails off!! Way to go gentlemen!
