Congratulations to our Reading Students for gaining their projected Growth in Reading!

Students in Life Skills III learn the different types of Banking Institutions, understanding the types of accounts, how to write and record a check correctly, how to make a deposit, writing endorsements, and how to interpret and reconcile a bank statement. Students work diligently to get that statement to balance!

The Appreciation Station is a weekly exercise that the students take great pride in. In Life Skills, students pick a random name out of the bucket, write a positive, uplifting, and meaningful note on a rain drop and then place that rain drop in the bucket marked for that student’s specific class. On Friday’s, those uplifting rain drop messages are handed out to the respective students.

Students participate in weight lifting exercises as part of their fitness routine. They are also encouraged to eat healthfully to support their fitness efforts.

Today Julesburg FFA members made it to Indy! Students started off the morning at Fair Oakes Farm where they got to see hog barns and a cow giving birth in real time! They learned about the 36,000 acres that Fair Oakes owns and operates and got to sample the tasty dairy treats produced on-site. They then made it to Indianapolis where students attended the first session of the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo with a special Keynote Speech from Courtenay DeHoff. Julesburg FFA members have traveled over a 1,000 miles, toured several places, and have had an eventful week… and it’s just getting started!

Kierra Ehnes, a Junior at Julesburg High School, was selected as a panelist for the round-table “I Matter” Campaign to be the voice of our youth in NE Colorado. This is a new program in the state of Colorado launching this fall. The “I Matter” program will provide all youth under the age of 18 with a free mental health screening and three free mental health sessions. This is the first time in history this type of program has been offered to our youth! The panel included: Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, Representative Dafna Michaelson-Jenet, Senator Rob Woodward, Representative Kevin Van Winkle and various key players across the state of Colorado including 9 News.

Julesburg FFA Members are on the way to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention and Expo held in Indianapolis, IN! Yesterday they took a tour of the Bayer Crop Science Water Utilization research farm where students learned about water conservation and research. Today’s tour was at Hawkeye Breeder’s Service where students identified the processes in the first phase in Artificial Insemination. In the time between stops, students are making connections with the 100 other FFA members from Northeastern Colorado on the charter busses. The rest of the week is jam-packed with tours and learning opportunities, so look forward to those updates!

Our show choir risers have arrived! The JHS show choir has been fundraising for the last 4 years to purchase these risers. A special thanks to the Benson family and the Julesburg Rotary Club for additional funds to help make this purchase. We are so excited to use these for rehearsals and our next concert!
