In honor of Veteran's Day, the Junior High School Career Explorations class interviewed Veteran Army Aviator Lieutenant Gary Lancaster under the guidance of Mrs. Monette . On Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm, please join the students and staff of Julesburg School District on Cedar Street for a reverse parade honoring our local Veterans.
Gary Lancaster joined the military during his senior year of high school in 1958. He had a love for building model airplanes and decided to go to aviation school. After a year in aviation school, Mr. Lancaster began doing reconnaissance flights. He practiced flying over areas to see the enemy and ground troops. He also flew to adjust artillery fire. In addition to these missions, Mr. Lancaster transported officers.
Mr. Lancaster flew the Cessna L19 and U68 Beaver planes. He went to Berlin and was part of the mission to fly over the Berlin Wall to see and report on the state of the east and west sides of Berlin. For his service, he earned the Berlin Crisis Medal and became an honorary member of the Border Legion. Mr. Lancaster shared that he spent three years in active duty and seven years in the National Guard. He stated that although he did not serve during a war, he would not have been afraid to be deployed during a war because that was his duty.
Thank you for your service Mr. Lancaster!

In honor of Veteran's Day, the Junior High School Career Explorations class interviewed Veteran Lance Corporal J Martinez under the guidance of Mrs. Monette . On Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm, please join the students and staff of Julesburg School District on Cedar Street for a reverse parade honoring our local Veterans.
J Martinez joined the Marines just after graduating high school. He did two tours while serving in Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Martinez was in the infantry and specialized in the M249 saw gunner automatic weapon. During his time in the Marines, Mr. Martinez earned the Purple Heart along with several other medals. Mr. Martinez stated that he loved the Marines and the friendships he made. J Martinez, we thank you for your service!

Quick update about football this week. The junior high game with Merino had to be moved to Saturday at 11:00am. So, the schedule for the rest of the week is:
Friday HS football at Merino 7:00pm
Saturday JH football at Merino 11:00am
I have attached Merino's protocol for the football games. You will notice that there is only two fans allowed per player.
Tuesday the junior high will make up their game with Haxtun in Julesburg at 4:00pm.

In honor of Veteran's Day, the Junior High School Career Explorations class interviewed Veteran Petty Officer 3rd Class Ken Berges under the guidance of Mrs. Monette . On Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm, please join the students and staff of Julesburg School District on Cedar Street for a reverse parade honoring our local Veterans.
Ken Berges graduated high school in 1965. By June 28th of that year he was on his way to boot camp in San Diego. He completed boot camp and headed to Tennessee. In Tennessee he attended a Technical School. He graduated as a radio technician and radio code operator. He then became familiar with aircraft and did radio communications. These aircraft flew personnel and mail. After that, he took his skill to the Philippines and worked as a radio technician. He was able to fix many radios on military planes so they could fly again. As a Petty Officer 3rd Class, Ken Berges earned the National Defense Ribbon. He spent 40 months in the Navy. Thank you for your service Mr. Berges!

In honor of Veteran's Day, the Junior High School Career Explorations class interviewed Veteran Air Force Master Sergeant Don Kizer under the guidance of Mrs. Monette . On Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm, please join the students and staff of Julesburg School District on Cedar Street for a reverse parade honoring our local Veterans.
Don Kizer joined the Air Force with a friend after graduating high school in 1952. He enjoyed the Air Force so much that he stayed in it for 21 years. He was a missile engineer technician that helped build missiles. This was important because it was during the time of the Cold War. His favorite was the Thor Missile. He also helped launch several satellites. He served his time in the Air Force in several different places including, California, New York, Illinois, France, Colorado Springs, Germany, Hawaii, and Johnson Island. While in the Air Force, he earned the Meritory of Service Award. Mr. Kizer, we thank you for your service!


The Julesburg High School Health Occupation Students of America Chapter (HOSA) held a Cancer Walk/Run fundraiser in honor of Stacie Olson. This event raised $600 and will be donated to Marin Olson, Stacie’s daughter, who raises money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
The JHS HOSA Chapter would like to thank everyone for your participation and generous donations. A special thank you to the Wagon Wheel Conoco for the Daylight Donuts, Sedgwick County Health Center for the bracelets and to Equitable Savings and Loan for the bottled water.




JES would like to thank the Northeastern Colorado Health Department for their generous donation of dental supplies for all of our students. Each student received a bag of toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and helpful tips. As always, we appreciate your immense amount of support of our school community.
