Exciting news for Julesburg FFA! We’re thrilled to announce that three of our members were awarded SAE Grants from the Colorado FFA Foundation! 🌟 Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) are student-led, instructor-supervised, work-based learning experiences that help students develop career-ready skills. 👉 Carlie Brandt and Cade Hoschouer each received a $1,750 grant for their projects. Carlie is starting her own Miniature Hereford herd 🐮, and Cade is launching an aluminum recycling business ♻️. 👉 Levi Reichman received a $1,500 Heifer Wrangler Grant, which will help him purchase a heifer to integrate into his growing cattle herd 🐂. We are so proud of these students for their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. Congratulations, Carlie, Cade, and Levi! 👏 #JulesburgFFA #SAEProjects #ColoradoFFA #StudentSuccess

Our amazing 6th graders are putting their hearts into the season of giving! Today, they spent time signing Christmas cards for the survivors of the recent hurricane, sharing messages of hope, strength, and holiday joy. 💌 We’re so proud of their kindness and compassion as they help remind others they’re not alone this season. Together, small acts of kindness can make a big difference! ❤️

It was a day to remember with the residents at the Assisted Living Center and the Third Grade class, a perfect example of how the simplest acts of togetherness can make the season brighter for everyone involved. This holiday season, these handcrafted Santa ornaments will not only adorn Christmas trees but also serve as a reminder of the power of community, connection, and the true spirit of giving. Thank you to The Assisted Living Center for having us, we had so much fun creating and visiting with you today. Also thank you to Mrs. Hansen and Ms. Ashley for your assistance with this fun project.

In JH Ag Exploration and Animal Science, we’ve been diving into animal digestion and nutrition! Each student had the chance to “feed their cow” using a zip-lock bag filled with their chosen feed. To highlight the importance of water—the most vital nutrient—we added it to their feed, along with yeast to represent the microorganisms in a ruminant’s stomach. The real excitement? Watching to see if their cow bloated! Some students overfed their cow, leading to bloating, while others maintained healthy gas levels. A fun, hands-on way to learn about the delicate balance of animal nutrition!

Today's Lion PRIDE Call of the Day goes to Piper Buettenback for working so diligently in her College English course. Even after struggling to access research databases in class last week, Piper worked hard over Thanksgiving break to compile research, cite it, and create a thorough annotated bibliography. College classes can be tough, and often so is mastering technology, but Piper tackled both on her own over the holiday break in order to stay on top of her collegiate course work!
