Back in January, sixth graders wrote letters of request to a person of their choice. It is always a fun unit for them, but it’s even more fun when they get responses back! On Monday, we received our second response, and the look of joy on their faces says it all!

Third & Fourth grades took a trip to Nostalgic Ceramics in Sterling for day one of their field trip. Students started with studio safety, then learned about different types of clay and glazes used in the studio. Students then made a pinch pot monster which they will get to glaze on day two and learn about the kiln. After making their monsters we went to Pioneer Park for lunch and also to view the solar eclipse with our special glasses.

3rd Grade Solar Eclipse art for the eclipse they viewed today.

Like millions of other Americans, students at JHS enjoyed lunch outside while viewing the 2024 solar eclipse. The path of this eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. In areas in the path of the total eclipse, the sky darkened for about four minutes as if it were dawn or dusk. In Julesburg, we witnessed a 66% solar eclipse at 12:40 pm.

Track today in Yuma!

The Good News Call of the Day goes to Josh Palic, Owen Harris and Cash Campbell. These three gentlemen just spent three days on a business trip with FBLA and when the bus unloaded, they voluntarily jumped back on to clean it out. They meticulously checked every seat, under each seat, swept the bus, and then hauled all the trash to the dumpster. Then they headed to their respective sports practices. A true demonstration of outstanding leadership!!!

Kindergarten has been working really hard on learning the different combinations to make 10. Today they played a game with their partner that reinforced this concept.

We are conducting a School Safety Program TODAY in conjunction with the Colorado State Patrol and our local Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS agencies. Part of the safety program is to test all communications platforms, so in a few minutes, you likely will be receiving a reverse 911 call regarding the "STAGED" vehicle accident that is a part of the School Safety Program. The purpose of this message is to inform you that this is NOT a real accident at the school, it is a staged accident that is part of the school safety program we are conducting at the school today.

Two heads are better than one, in some cases three or four are. Third grade testing together for their reading test today. Students read the passage together and each gave an answer for the question, but they had to prove their answer by using text evidence to supported their choice.
